Don't get the 9500GT, really crap card :)

The Radeon 4850 is a good card if you can get it for <£100.

The Radeon 4830 is also decent.

If you really want a Nvidia card, for £100, I'd recommend http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-XF ... -E-20-(x16)-2200MHz-GDDR3-GPU-738MHz-128-Cores-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDTV

Although XFX are not known for their RMA process.

If you are willing to spend a little more, get http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/896MB-EVGA-GTX-260-SSC-PCI-E-20-(x16)-Mem-2106-MHz-GPU-626-MHz-192-Cores-2-x-DL-DVI-HDTV

I have one similar, it is fantastic - very quiet and runs everything at 1900x1200 (24"+), plus I paid £200 for mine before christmas so that's a bargain.

AMD Athlon 3700+
2.5gb ram
Windows XP
550W PSU

my last system was much like that, but i had the athlon64 fx which is a fair bit faster and it wasnt so good with the 8800gtx. in fact when i used 2 of them in sli it went bang :(
i recently sold 2 gigabyte 7950gt cards on ebay which are perfect for your cpu. only got about £35 each for them and they run source at 120+fps.
i think the best card for your setup would be this one: http://www.powerc.com/uk/ps/Graphics%20Cards/1/code/9600GT/act/gpage

its pretty much the same card, but the 1 i posted is made by nvidia.
also powerc.com dont charge postage on orders over £50 with next day delivery and no hassle if anything goes wrong. i used them since 1999 when i lived in shetland. only ever had 1 problem they sent the wrong part once. they resent the part i ordered and told me to keep the wrong one so i wouldnt have to pay the postage to return it.
