Is it worth upgrading to windows 8? im quite tempted cus its £25 at the moment

we tried the trial version, didn't like it. there is a reason it's only £25 lol

windows xp, vista and 7 are all on the way out... there will be no further updates soon. windows 8 is going to be around for awhile as will the other O.S. but you will find win 8 updates easier to find than for any other O.S. technology is moving forward. windows 8 is easy to use, can be used with or without touchscreens. if you use touch screen mobile phones then using windows 8 will not take u long to get your head around.

tbh the choice is entirely up to u...pay for the upgrade or just wait til you buy a new machine with it already pre-installed.

windows 8 uses what they call charms (icons) for searching, if you click search it will not only search the internet..but it will search your entire pc for the word u typed saving you time looking in each document or folder. share, control settings,get back to start menu and lots more all with charms. if you type Madrid, Spain in the search charm results will appear in the travel app, aswel as top websites relevant to Madrid-map app will show maps- all by one search.
photo's are very similar based to apple machines where you can specify names/places and they will go into specific folders.

there is NO start menu - its replaced with a start screen - your enitre screen is the menu which you can adapt/add/remove download apps etc. (like you do on your phone)
basically windows 8 is microsofts version of apple. Apps, contacts are all pinned to the start screen.

it is piss easy to use

charms- touchscreen use- swipe from the right hand edge of the screen.
- mouse upper or lower right corner - click it.

switch apps - touchscreen - swipe from left hand edge of screen.
- mouse - click upper left corner.

app commands- touchscreen - swipe up from bottom.
- mouse - right click the app.

drag apps from top to bottom of screen to close them.

last used app - swipe from left edge.

snap 2 apps side by side - touchscreen- swipe from left, release, tap and drag divider to resize.
- mouse -click and drag app from left, relase when snaps into place-click and drag the divider to resize.

app commands allow you to pin items to the start screen, turn off live tiles, resize, uninstall and lots more like customise.
tap or click the desktop to run microsoft office.
tap+drag to scroll view all your tiles.


livetiles are called so cos they are like the ones on your phones, they update in real time. sahring info from apps on your start screen - facebook/twitter and what ever other sites you use. so you know the latest without looking for it.

pin important stuff to your start screen, everything you pin is called a tile - apps, contacts, websites and lots more can be pinned.
move tiles by pressing and holding, move them anywhere.
customise the tiles so you only recieve notifications about the things u want notifying on.

yes my husband does work at pc world. he's dyslexic so i do all his training modules for him, then simplify it for him- give him notes.
i did the training on it for him then the notes you see i posted abopve are simplified for him.
theres alot more to windows 8. 31 pages of notes on a4 lined paper from top to bottom to be precise..

ok you may think me doing his work is cheating, but.... hes at work full time, hes been there 3 yrs and done NO training, this affected his wage. they told him if he did ALL his training before a certain date, then the next pay scale review, he would get a rise. i sat down and did 3yrs of training in a month, 4 week solid day and night reading, watching vids, taking tests and got all his training done before the said date. payrise on its way......................

wtf!!!!!! the day before the payrise...looked on line and theres another pile of training that i could no way in hell complete before the next review, another 4 weeks worth... so they screwed him out of his pay rise. even tho he is now a specialist in his filed... he does not get specialist pay.
i also did it with his apple training, hes got the certificate, pin and been sent on another course by apple and can by law sell apple machines anywhere. but his place of work wont let him on the apple stand cos hes a good sales man on the shop floor- another pay scale refused. not mention the amount of times hes been screwed over for his christmas bonus. ( but pmsl its the managers who have been screwed this yr! mwhuahahahah)
