Imaging the worst. Someone drunk drives a car, got his friends in it. Crashes it, 2 died, 2 are still in Danger of their Lives. The Driver, is just light injured. That happened a few weeks ago here. Could you live with that burden?

Of course, it could also have happened if he wasn't drunk. But unfortunately he was.

Drink and Drive is a no go. No matter how you put it.

Its just so fucking selfish, I couldn't care less if some drunk drives into a ditch and kills himself. Its that it puts others at risk.

as i say........ depends on circumstances...... dont carry passenger it's a NO-NO ! more so if its late at night, and yer REALLY DRUNK, and speeding !!!

On the other hand: Driving home from the pub, really slowly, on quiet country roads, in the light of a summers evening.......... only just over the "legal limit" (emphasis on LEGAL LIMIT.... which differs GREATLY depending where you live in the world) isn't such a big deal !

Waking up after a heavy session........ only just over teh limit........ driving to work....... really slowly, and well alert is ok.......

The LAW sucks ASS !!! there is a zero tolerance on it ... and its not fair !!!

There are far more dangerous road users than yer "sensible drink drivers" who drive home after 1 pint with a meal.......... and YES 1 PINT can send ya over the limit !

No sorry, it doesn't differ greatly depending on where you live in the world, you'll see that most countries have around 0.05% of alcohol in your blood as their legal limit (the UK is even higher, so..).

Oh yeah, isn't such a big deal? Tell that to my cousin who got killed by a drunk driver (who was driving at around 20 mph).

Yes, there are other dangers on the road, but there are laws in place for that aswell. You can argue all you want, but it all boils down to selfishness, you want to have a few bevvies and then take your car home because its more convenient. There is absolutely nothing unfair with laws that regulate driving under the influence.

yer, so OUR law say its ok to have a beer and drive...... i go to spain, there law says i have teh same beer and i am drink driving so they abuse my licence and privaliges for 12 months, i lose my licence, then my job, wife leaves me, lose the house, wind up a bum on teh streets.......... ok , worse case scenario, but it can happen, and if the law is soo perfect and proven to be RIGHT, why is the legal DD limit so different in countires ?

also, my bro got 12 month ban for trying to start a motorized Rhino Board ! http://www.okokchina.com/Files/uppic8/RHINO652.gif
yes he was gunna ride it if it ran. but it didnt, and he got same penalty as if he was driving a car !!! ? there is a BIG diff in the risks involved, and the punishment doesnt always fit teh crime !

Atleast you wouldn't be dead. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. I have no sympathy for drunk drivers.
Oh, and as I just said, there isn't much difference between the legal limit in countries, most are around 0.05%, some countries have a lower limit where the punishment isn't as hard, along with a higher limit where the punishment is harder.

What does this have to do with drunk driving?

just bringing to light the other laws of teh road that are BS........

my view is that yer probly safer having 3 beers and driving home in a high performance car and taking it easy.... than ya are having nothing to drink, being incompetant behind teh wheel of a cheap new car with shite brakes and shite tyres.....

another thing that pisses me off is speed limits........... the same for EVERY VEHICLE... in all weather conditions..............

some built up areas have a 40 limit. some have 30 limit !!! knock down a kid in a 40 limit doing 38 is OK......... knock down a kid doing 40 in a 30 limit, GO TO JAIL !!!! , least in france they are more aware, 110kmh in rain, 120kmh in dry ! makes sense.

road near me is a dual carrigeway, with a central reservation, 50mph limit...... yet teh law says a dual carrigeway with a central reservation has a speed limit of 70mph ....... (unless says otherwise) yet i can legally do 60mph round the blind country roads with tractors turning and next to zero visibility

... nuff sed, i had my rant............ and Hate teh Law !!!!! (least for road laws anyways :P)

TEH LAW <----- :ss1:

I'm sorry for going on, but you've completely avoided every single one of my points.

Who's to say what is safer btw? If both end up killing someone, then what is the difference? People have different tolerance to alcohol, how would anyone be able to write a law and not put down a limit? Are the police going to say "oh you look like you can handle your booze, no problem mate"?

This makes it look like you think going to jail for that is harsh punishment, which I'm sure you don't mean.
