hey guys,

after finally getting rid of the mouse problem i had, i have found my new pest. this pesky spider.

Image

i looked on the internet cos i didnt recognise it. turns out that a "false widow" spider is very common where i live (gosport nr portsmouth). anyhoo, i went out to look at it later on and i saw this on it belly.

Image

if you look you can see a red blur (damn flash), well anyway, that is a red hourglass(very clear when not on camera). on a few sites that i searched for info they claim that a false widow dont have the red hour glass. which means there is a chance that i do infact have a black widow spider in my garden :s .

i have e-mailed the piccies to the local zoo, but they are taking for ever to get back to me.

to those spider experts among you, should i worry?

hmm dont know what kind it is. i dont get spiders in my house because 1, i live in fife and its too cold 2, i have a young female cat who kills everything that moves and a fair amount of things that dont move. my big male cat used to eat spiders till one day he tried and the spider crawled out of his nose and gave him sneezing fits  that was scary

I feel like Ive seen it some were...
Stay back from it, some spiders can jump, which feels unatural.
If a black widow jumper that was the size of a birdeating spider, I'd crap myself tbh.
About how big is it (don't get a ruler).

I don't think it's a black widow because 1 we dont get them in britain and 2 the red hourglass would be much clearer than that even on a piccy.
