Bob told me how to do it but there was a tiny bit that I did'nt quite understand and since bob was not available at the time I went here. It's explained really well and only requires about 5 steps.

well thanks but ive done exactely as it says and it doesn't seem to work, all it does is instead of the background being grey or transparent it is now white :dunno:

it sounds like ,when your highlighting the stuff you want for your spray, the background is also highlighted??, if you click + ctrl you spray in layers, then go to channels then new channel layer you will see whats gonna be present in your spray. you did set back ground to 127,127,127 then select bucket, then click your spray background?. if so your background should look gray, then save.

nailed it! :yes: :beer2: the problem wasn't the background being selected, i think i had already coloured the bottom layer in grey before adding the alpha layer, never mind problemo solved :)
