This petition has been set up in response to the Government’s proposal to cut off internet access to those who are caught illegally downloading copyrighted files. We think this has one fundamental flaw, as illegal filesharers will simply hack into other peoples WiFi networks to do their dirty work. This will result in innocent people being disconnected from the internet. What's more, such a punishment should be dealt with in the proper way, in a court of law. This guilty until proven innocent approach violates basic human rights.

To TalkTalk's credit, they have publicly opposed this from the start and taken the press along to residential areas to demonstrate how easy it is to piggy back somebody else's connection. I'm very surprised the other ISPs haven't spoken out about this. Time will tell.

Signed...

However, this is only the tip of the Iceberg.

Long term plans from large Media Firms are to create a tiered Internet, where you pay lets say £15 per month for a medium tier, that would allow you to access lets say 1'000 Websites.

Seriously, this is in late planning, and the Legislations, and new platforms such as Phorm etc, are a precusror to prepare for this.

- Virgin Media's Chief Executive, Neil Burkett, about 18 months ago said "Net Neutrality is Bollocks", or words to that effect.
- BT's new 21CN Hub was opened just over a year ago, with all the infrastructure in place to implement this (Deep Packet inspection, which will enable the plans).

The link below is a set of tools designed by Google, who are spearheding the campaign to protect Net Neutrality:

This is an example of what is to come if Net Neutrality is aleviated:
