i'm just wondering if glass and cement have the same expansion factor in hot/cold weather
=======> if not the house won't last very long
for example steel and concrete have the same expansion factor

i know what you mean, but didnt kno steel and concrete were the same ? but as glass is made from silica sand and other elements/ingredients i am guessing its prett close to stone.

well, stainless steel has twice the coeffient of linear expansion to that of mild steel

it's not stainless steel they use in concrete
for that reason every steel bar that's inside must be atleast 5cm
(about 2 " i guess) surrounded by concrete or else it will rust and cause concrete "cancer"
this is because after 5cm of concrete , air can't pass true anymore .
and no air means no oxidation

WTF, have to talk abou this on MIC lol, need some facts soring out here, about the porosity of concrete and the oxdization of mild steel !

i dont know about that, there is too much chance of airbubbles and a little shake would knock holes in the side of the house. lets hope they dont live by a road
