wtf is this related to BnW ?
my steam account password is also the pass i use for online banking and MSN do i NEED to change my password for them also ? or was this just a shitty lame attack on steam ?

use a different pw for everything, especially banking, paypal, ebay etc.
use caps, lower case and numbers for passwords

Yep. Further to Wavy's reply you should always use as long a password as a site will allow you. The longer a password, the stronger it is regardless of complexity - http://www.infoworld.com/d/security-central/password-size-does-matter-531. I tend to go with that guys idea and I use a standard phrase followed by something site specific - makes it easy to remember.
