some of you know i spent the summer working on a music project with the local YMCA and a homeless youth project.
basically, the idea was to get together a group of musicians and youth workers to create a CD from scratch. we started off with around 20 16-21 year old homeless youths. took them through the whole process of writing and recording the CD. the songs are written by them, arranged by them and played by them with the exception of the drums which i did. the young guy i was teaching got unexpectedly detained so i had to record the drum parts..
we lost a few along the way as people found work, accomodation etc
this is the finished product. feel free to download it and have a listen. let me know what you think.
its 4 songs, each different in style and arrangement in a zip file. think its around 25mb

well done, pat on the back Davie, it just shows what can be done if people are given the chance in life to do something they would never have had the opportunity unless it was offerd to them.
Just a thought came to mind, how many were left out the twenty?, and are they going to continue as a group?.
I don't think they will win the xfactor but i do think they have an opportunity to make money, and have a life that will be more enjoyable.

of the original 20, only 5 finished and only 4 made it to play the gig we put on for them. good news is all of them have moved on to jobs and suitable housing. unfortunately as fast as they find themselves, more take their place so im doing this again in 3 weeks.
ive done a lot of things in my long life and this has to be one of the most rewarding for me.

its a decent song, with more time and cash it could be worked into something much better.
the guys we got this time are into dance music or metal so its gonna be interesting. i hate dance music but i love to play metal. looks like its a pendulum type drum and bass mix!
