... what Empire: Total war is like, well...
Its fantastic! The gameplay is superb. Though I feel the Medieval Total War 2 engine is much better.
The three playable theatres all act differently to one another, so you have to keep on your toes!
There is a MASSIVE issue though...
I am at turn 182 of 200, I have conquered India and nearly all of the United States, and in control of a good part of Western europe... BUT... the game is so badly riddled with bugs, and trynna finish playing the bloody thing is worse than getting a tooth extracted!
In the US theatre, I have 6 armies 1 turn away from landing at New Andalusia, Dutch Guyana and French Guyana - once they are taken I have the complete US theatre

... but everytime I click the first navy... CRASH... so I reload and try the second... CRASH... the problem is only with navies though, on the campaign map.
Its like watching a movie which has an open ending - you just want to see it finish, then you realise you have to wait til the sequal. Do I have to wait til Empire: Total War II is released before I can finish the game?
As well as the issue above, theres also:
- Times when your armies can be selected but CANNOT move into any region.
- A bug with sieging armies, ie put a small army to siege a town, and then try to get another to either attack or merge with the sieging army, then you are put straight into the combat options with NO withdraw option. If you break the siege all armies that are NOT sieging will leave the region, and leave small sieging army. Then you have the option to leave the siege. If you do or you don't the enemy army in the region WILL attack you after you click finish turn!
- After landing troops on the Leeward island, you cannot move the navy - the only thing to do is retire the navy!
- If an allied army stand by your town and you train more than 20 units, the extra go into the allied army!!!!! (not part of the game - just a stupid bug)
- Around about the mid point, the game hangs endlessly!
My advice... wait six months til SEGA get their fingers out and role out some decent fixes!
Sammy @ well and truely disappointed
