Netbook / laptop,............. and what the hell is the difference, I never did figure that out?!

Plus, any recommendations out there??! £350 maximum!

£350 will get a decent laptop but depends what she will use it for.
i got a laptop for the mrs a couple of years ago cause i got fed up of having to surrender the keyboard so she could use the net.
i would recommend play.com for a new laptop. prices are resonable and now and again you get a decent sale offer

I don`t know shops in the UK but I would really recommand the ASUS notebooks, bought one for my wife in october and its really stunning with grafics ermmm it has a seperated 512mb vid card thats one of my recomandations a sep vid card
But when you see the webcam results and typing on the keyboard its a pleasure to work with it.
We also have Two Packerd Hells but they are only good for scrapheap, even one off them was much more expensive then the asus.
I payed about 700 euro for the Asus X71xl laptop 17" a bit more then your 350 but I think a 15" Asus can come close to the 350 pounds.

I'd recommend the Dell Mini 10.

It has HDMI out meaning you could easily hook it up for a TFT when she is at her desk, but still use it on the go.
Great wee laptop and depending on storage/battery life it can be had as low as £200. Better battery and more storage will take it up to around £270 but still well within your budget. They reckon the keyboard on it is around 90% the size of a normal one too.

I'm either going to get one of those or a Samsung NC10 for uni next term

shade got a good lappy from tesco's its the one he plays css on at the min .. better than a notebook but depends what she is gona use it for personaly i wouldnt have one just a lappy but you can get them from there for about £250 kyle paid about 360 for his but it was for the graphics card that was in it

the one i got for the mrs has a grafix card, 2gb ram, an amd turion dualcore cpu and 120gb hdd
cost £500 2 years ago and plays L4D at around 50fps with no trouble.

Mine cost just under £400.. Its got AMD Athlon Dual-Core, 3.00 Gig'o ram and Nvidia GeForce 8200M Graphics.

I can Play L4D Without a Problem.. CSS Great (once i got all the settings right) And TF2... Although i still havent worked out the TF" settings properly so it's got alot of lagg (FPS)

If shes just getting online i'd go for a netbook,


my choices for a netbook would be like a MSI Wind, Dell mini 10 or a lenovo S10.


I got a OEM Re-badged ECS G10IL netbook and although its nice, the keyboard is a pain in the backside.
