me and harry have nvidia 8800gtx@748mb cards. still one of the best on the market. i think will got one for around £100 new.
it really depends on your system tho. a lot of new cards need loads of power and 2 x six pin power cables. the 8800gtx uses 185w each so you might need to upgrade your psu to a 550w+
also, if your system has an older cpu it will not let the graphics card run at speed. kinda bottlenecks at the cpu.
post your pc spec and see what we can find for you.

BTW, reason why I'm looking, when I turn my pc on I get 9 beeps from my PC and the monitor doesn't register anything,............ press the reset button and on about the third press it starts up!

Thus thinking the Graphic card is on the way out,............ also noticed that lately it takes an age to refresh the icons on my desktop,............ not a good sign I guess!

The best for £100 is geforce 9800 GT but if you are willing to spend more i reckon the best for around £140 is the Geforce 9800 GTX 260 that is the best graphics card for price atm

I have a GeForce FX 5200 which is crappy and old
