Can someone please help me?

I keep doing speed tests and stuff on the internet and it tells me that my ping is around 15-30 ms.

However, when I am playing CS:S my ping can be anywhere from 80-500 and it is so annoying when I keep lagging and warping all the time and even completely lagging out where it is telling me "Warning: Connection problem" and then the little count down timer from 25 seconds.

I have had this problem for a long time now and I have had enough of it! People who are on CS:S at the same time as me will know this!

Any help as to how I can fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Is anyone else using your connection at the same time? Including mobile phones!

Yes, and that is most likely the source of the problem!

There is my laptop, my phone, both of my brothers computers, both of my brother's phones, my mum's laptop and also both my parent's phones. :/

But what I don't understand is that surely it would say on the ping tests that I run that there is a high ping and then I would understand why it says it on CS:S too... but it gives me a low ping reading and then high on CS:S?

Is it always at the same time that you play that you get probs with your ping?
Maybe some sheduled programms start also to run ? Updates, steam, antivirus, malware check of your system?

The problem with ping tests is ping is how long it takes for your computer to communicate with the server so it's possible the ping test server is closer to you than the CS server is making it seem quicker.

have you tried lowering the graphics by taking out eyes and teeth in css skins in cfg?

look through your cfg in css
not sure on the correct wording but eyes_enable "1" change to "0" then it removes the eyeballs and teeth in players giving you more fps.
look on steam forum for ping lowering cfg.
you could enable ragdoll to 0 (you dont see dead bodies laying around, they just pop and disappear) but i heard that is now classed as an hack and you can be banned for it.

edit: delete the client registry blob file...

add this to your cfg or edit it to this..

cl_cmdrate "66"
cl_interp 0.01"
cl_interpolate "1"
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck "1"
cl_lagcompensation "1"
cl_updaterate "67"
cl_smooth "1"
rate "30000"

r_decals "50"
r_drawbatchdecals "1"
r_decal_cullsize "9999"
r_rootlod "2"
r_lod "-1"
r_modellodscale "1.0"
r_drawmodeldecals "0"
r_shadowmaxrendered "32"
r_shadows "1"
r_shadowrendertotexture "1"
r_dynamic "0"
r_propsmaxdist "1200"
r_drawdetailprops "1"
r_occlusion "1"
r_renderoverlayfragment "0"
r_3dsky "0"
r_waterdrawreflection "0"
r_waterforceexpensive "0"
r_drawflecks "0"
r_eyes "0"
r_teeth "0"
r_eyegloss "0"
r_eyemove "0"
r_eyeshift_x "0"
r_eyeshift_y "0"
r_eyeshift_z "0"
r_eyesize "0"
r_ambientboost "1"
r_ambientmin "0.3"
r_ambientfactor "5"
r_drawmodelstatsoverlaymin "0.1"
r_drawmodelstatsoverlaymax "1.5"

dont forget to save a copy of your original config before changing to this in case it doesnt work for you.
