6870 has arrived, installed and plays well.

Issues so far: Steam did not recognise my video card? Says its a 6800 series, but nothing more.
Had to set video properties manually on L4D2.

L4D2 runs at around 60 fps with everything on high, is that normal?

if ya disable it, it'll unlimit yer FPS, sho ya may well be getting 120fps, but if ya suffering from screen tearing, if ya sync yer rendering of yer pixels Vertically (V-sync) then ya dont get screen tear

Doesn't it increase the chances of crashes as well?

nah, i've never had a crash cause of it, i run most my games with it off to see wot frame rate i can get, then if i have a problem with screen tear, i turn V-Sync on
