OK guys and gals, here's what's happened today.
Our host had a few issues which meant about 6 servers went offline.
I emailed them as soon as I knew there was an issue and got the following reply once the forums etc were back up!

My apologies we have been hit with a DDOS attack which has knocked out our services to some ISP. This has now been resolved and we are reviewing our options to prevent this from happening again.
We will be crediting your account with a month’s hosting as some form of compensation for the problems today.

Thus unfortunately it was an issue totally out of our control but, as you can see by your ability to read this post, it has now been rectified.
