My ping/latency on the scoreboard usually shows as sub 15ms on this server, when i enter 'ping' in the command tool its normal 35-50ms. The only other server i play on when this one is quiet is the UKCS server where my ping is usually in the 50ms area.
I play with a standard cfg, game was installed and the only thing i change was the crosshair scale, i really am a PC FPS newb. I get a lot of people on the SSDi server accusing me of running a ping mask, which i mostly ignore but it does get annoying.
My ISP is virgin media, with a 60mb connection (was 120mb but downsized), do i need to do anything with my cfg like adjust rates or something? or is my ping ok for this server?
Thanks in advance.

I think he means, that because he's running Virgin Media Internet (and potentially close to the server), the latency can actually be 3/4.
If his latency by typing "ping" in console is around 30-40m/s Then its potentially not at ping mask.
I always play, with no other programs running 43ms usually, and that gives me a latency of 8/9.
If you type "ping" in console, and the player has a ping of 60+ m/s, then yes, it will be a ping mask.

Thanks guys, you are correct. My latency is low, sub 15ms and my ping is normally 35-50ms. Thank for confirming all is ok, mind at peace.

Latency is how long data takes to get from your PC to the server in one direction only. Ping is the amount of time for data to get from your PC to the server and back again, which is why your ping is around double your latency and is exactly what you would expect.
My latency is also normally 15ms or lower with my ISP (BT).

my latency is normally a 1/3 or a 1/4 of my ping.
