Just got a message from tmx skunksta over steam saying "Great the open beta for left 4 dead 2 is here" including a link to a website, i wont include the url for obvious reasons.

If you get a message like this do not click it, EVEN if it comes from one of your steam friends, it leads to what looks like the real steam login page but its farming data so your account will be compromised, if a steam friend does it its likely their account has been compromised as well.

for me it originated from our member cupps, i clicked his link and i think most the people in our clan got it from then onwards thinking that im a trusted person, unfortunate... because thats the only reason i click cupps link. ive never clicked a link in a chat box till that day, i dont know why i did, must have been a bit too eager for l4d2... lesson learnt the hard way.

just to make sure you are all extra carefull, if your account does ever get hi-jacked and they get a vac ban, you can never remove that ban regardless of how it happened... hows that for crap!

luckily so far it doesnt seem to be that way...

you can click the link as far as im aware. it takes you to a a page with the l4d2 trial offer for nvidia customers only, there is a link from that page to the login page, just dont put ur details in. The site is identical apart from the black bar that goes along the top of the page, in the fake one its orange, even the web address looked right.
